Now that I have done both Jessicat and Magnum, there are some great cat versions of these guys you should check out by Miriam Gibson. I think they are awesomely funny.
See them all in one post here! Look at them, like them, and reblog them. You will not regret it!
Answer:
Right now they are stored in little plastic cases for safe keeping. (Which I’ve just run out of!) My 99th and 100th kitties are two different versions of the same character with the commentary for kitty 100 being written by a special guest.
There is going to be a display, but I am still trying to work out the mechanics of it. You’ll get to see the display being made step-by-step when I reach 365 kitties (which is the end mark).
Way back at the beginning - Kitty 13 from May 19th, 2011 - was a hint about what the future display will be.
Day 91
I think the answer to that is most probably yes. Which is why I have been contemplating a second mini sculpture project, to update irregularly. Along with my love of miniture things and facination with pop culture and food I can’t eat, I can no longer deny my love of pirates, cats, and facial hair. I think if you were to combine these three elements you would create the greatest objects in the entirety of the internet. That is why I would like to know if you would like to see this form of brand concious pop-art continue; but this time with original, facially endowed, miniture pirate characters created out of Hello Kitty heads?
So the answer is yes?
Day 90
Jessica Fletcher, take 2
Day 89
What can I say about ol’ JB? What a woman! Smart, clever, witty, friendly, on top of business and making it big in the publishing world. Teaching millions that a homespun widow doesn’t mean any of the stereotypes that you think it means. Showing you how to jet-set with style, while still being proud to come from a small fishing community. I guess it’s no surprise that I wanted to be JB. I’m from a small fishing island! I’ve always wanted to make my own books and tell my own stories (and for the first time I am a year into working on my very first art book, doing just that). It was chock full of feminism and didn’t shy away from some hard issues, all while keeping comedy and heart. Now-a-days it often feels like the movie industry needs a good kick in the pants in order to write strong female characters that I’ll care about, and despite all of that extra gooey cheese (or if you’re a fan of it, then all the better) I feel like someone should sit a few writers, producers, directors down (and by sit I mean forcefully strap) and get them to watch that good old she wrote, and take notes. When I was young I wanted to be Jessica Fletcher, and now that I’m older, I still hope I end up that together in the future.
Day 88
I think it’s about time that I told you that Angela Lansbury was most of my childhood. She played all my favorite characters. I’ve already mentioned her as Mrs. Lovette, and she voiced Mommy Fortuna. She was also the voice of Mrs. Potts. In all honesty, her voice work was always so perfect it made you believe that character was real. The tonal inflections, the way she captured a voice that sounded exactly like you would expect based on how the character looked. The way she gave you little surprise glimpses into the character through the voice. Mrs. Potts was one of my more favorite characters growing up. Whenever I saw her I thought of the metaphor from Tuck Everlasting, ‘potato of a woman’. Describing her in both appearance and character (the staple, comforting, homebody - or at least that’s what I always think of when I hear someone described as a potato, though I ‘spose I don’t often hear anyone described as a potato, but you get my drift here).

I know you weren’t expecting a kitty post today, but since I missed camping to take care of my sick mouse, I thought I’d stick to schedule. Hope you enjoy!
Day 87
Thought you might like to see how far I am with this kitty. It’s rather intricate so it hasn’t been worked on too much these past few days. This is the last one for my Last Unicorn series. Bet you already know who it is.
…have taken up all my time. Sorry there’s no kitty yet. Looks like my mouse either has cancer or a very unfortunate series of events. Only time will tell. But this is it now, he’s an old man, and I’m caught in the waiting game. Either he gets better or things slowly get worse. I’ve been told to prepare myself because there’s nothing I can do but wait it out since he is so tiny and so old. He won’t survive any treatments now anyway. Wish me luck while I stay here and spend time with my little buddy.
I had to take my little mouse buddy for an exam at the vet today. This has put me a bit behind in the kitty making factory. I’ll get the new up tomorrow promise.
Day 86
It gives you wings! In all seriousness, there was no way I was making flames without completely ruining it. It honestly looked like wings and a mane and well, just bad.
Kitty looks much more menacing now.
I love this movie more than anything else, but that last fight scene with the bull? My partner Chris and I always mock it, and it’s the only part of the film he remembers with any clarity. We mock it simply for that one line by the prince, “Father, I had that dream again. No wait, I was dead.”
I mean it begs to be poked at. Especially with the delivery.
PS - Next Monday, the 21st, is Victoria Day in Canada. Otherwise known as the ol’ May two four. I will be away camping with family, so there will no update next Monday.
Day 85
“Down to the Red Bull Haggard! UNICORN! UNICORN!”
I can’t believe it. I got so caught up in making the kitties that I neglected to notice that two days ago on May 6th, this tumblr turned 1 year old. Wow. I can’t believe I’ve been doing this a full year already, and with 365 kitties to make as well as a display to build, and hopefully at the end an exhibition, it looks like I’ll be at it for a few more years to come.
I hope you’ve been enjoying the ride thus far, and continue to join me on through the future. I’ve got a lot of kitties and memories left in me, and I can’t wait to make new ones.
